NHL playoffs to air exclusively on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2
ABC Sports, ESPN and ESPN2 will join forces to present live and exclusive coverage of the 2003 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, including telecasts of the Conference finals and Stanley Cup finals. ESPN will televise Games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup finals, while ABC Sports will broadcast matchups in up to 11 windows, including Games 3-7 of the finals. Combined, the networks will televise up to 75 games over 62 days.
Several playoffs games on ABC Sports and ESPN will be broadcast in HD, High Definition television. The scheduled HD games will be announced shortly.
ABC Sports' coverage will begin SATURDAY, APRIL 12, at 3:00 p.m. ET with regionalized Game 2 Conference Quarterfinal telecasts. ESPN and ESPN2 will begin WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9, with a Game 1 Conference Quarterfinal contests on both networks at 7:00 p.m., ET.
ABC SPORTS COMMENTATORS:
ABC Sports' game coverage will include three broadcast teams: Gary Thorne, Bill Clement and John Davidson in the booth with reporter Christine Simpson; Steve Levy and Darren Pang; and Mike Emrick and Brian Engblom. John Saunders will host studio segments with Barry Melrose.
