NBC said Monday the rating for Sunday's closing singles matches was 6.3 overnight with a 15 share. Saturday's overnight rating was 4.9 with a 14 share, the second-highest rating for a Ryder Cup telecast since NBC began televising the event in 1991.
The network estimates 55 million viewers saw all or part of the Ryder Cup, surpassing the previous high of 42 million in 1997.
The two telecasts also gave the program its highest two-day average. The average was 5.4/14, breaking the mark of 4.1/12 in 1997.
National ratings for Saturday will be available Tuesday. National ratings for Sunday and the two-day national average will be available Thursday.
One rating point equals 994,000 households that are turned into a broadcast. The share equals the percentage watching the telecast among those TVs on at the time.
