GURGAON, India -- Thongchai Jaidee birdied the final hole to win the Indian Open on Sunday.

Thongchai carded a 6-under 66 to overhaul Ross Bain, who had led by one stroke with six holes to play. Thongchai finished with a record total of 17-under 271.

After finding two bunkers on the par-5 18th, Bain did well to save par for a 66.

"My driving and putting was strong throughout the tournament, and even when the pressure was on I remained confident," Thongchai said.

The powerful Thai was able to take advantage of his length off the tee. He managed to drive the green on the 388-yard par-4 12th hole, which he two-putted for birdie.

Bain relied on accurate approach play and exceptional putting. He sank a 20-footer for a birdie on the ninth and putts of around 10 feet on Nos. 10 and 11 as a run of four consecutive birdies earned him the lead.

But Thongchai grabbed a share of the lead with a birdie on the par-5 14th before clinching the title on the final hole to pocket $50,000.
