YPSILANTI, Michigan (Ticker) -- Defensive lineman Jari Brown blocked Kevin Kerr's extra point attempt with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter, helping Eastern Michigan escape with a 27-26 victory over Ohio in a Mid-American Conference matchup. Walter Church had given Eastern Michigan (2-4, 2-2 Mid-American West) a 27-20 lead with 9:49 left in the fourth when he hooked up with wide receiver Brandon Campbell on a 61-yard touchdown pass. The game seemed destined for overtime after Joe Sherrill scored on a three-yard run with 66 seconds to play for Ohio (2-5, 2-2 MAC East). But Brown got a hand on Kerr's extra point attempt to preserve the lead. Church completed 24-of-33 passes for 347 yards and also had TD tosses of 51 and 14 yards to Jermaine Sheffield. He was intercepted twice. Ohio quarterback Dontrell Jackson had 256 total yards. He carried 29 times for 144 yards and also completed 5-of-14 passes for 112 yards with one touchdown.
