NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Patrick Ramsey threw two of his five touchdown passes in the first nine minutes as Tulane exploded for 21 first-quarter points and cruised past intrastate rival Louisiana-Lafayette, 48-32.

Tulane (3-3) has won three straight over UL-Lafayette (1-6) and holds a commanding 20-4 advantage in the all-time series.

The Green Wave snapped a two-game losing streak by scoring 18 more points than they combined for in losses to ranked foes Syracuse and Mississippi. Tulane visits No. 23 East Carolina next weekend.

Ramsey completed 37-of-52 passes for 396 yards and was picked off only once. His five-yard touchdown strike to Terrell Harris opened the scoring 5:39 into the game and he found Zander Robinson for a 19-yard TD just over three minutes later.

Quarterback Derek Dyer broke loose for a 35-yard scoring run for the Ragin' Cajuns but Ramsey answered with a seven-yard TD pass to JaJuan Dawson with 67 seconds to play in the period.

Dawson hauled in 11 passes for 138 yards, Burnette caught nine for 136 and Harris totaled 71 on 10 for the Green Wave, who racked up 584 yards of offense.

Dyer was 10-of-25 for 186 yards but was intercepted three times and sacked four times. He added 79 yards on 16 carries. Darren Brister led the Ragin' Cajuns on the ground with 121 yards on 21 carries.

Brister scored on a six-yard run midway through the fourth quarter and hauled in the two-point conversion pass from Dyer that brought UL-Lafayette within 45-32. Seth Marler's third field goal of the second half, a 37-yarder with 2:24 remaining, completed the scoring.

Sophomore Marcus Wilridge caught five passes for 89 yards for UL-Lafayette, which has dropped three straight games for the second time this season.
