WASHINGTON (AP) -- Quarterback Joe Lee completed 34 of 55 passes for 431 yards and four touchdowns, and tailback Jason Corle scored four touchdowns, Saturday to lead Towson to a 49-33 victory over Howard.

Lee, a senior from Front Royal, Va., who leads all NCAA Division I-AA quarterbacks in passing yardage, threw for more than 400 yards for the second consecutive game.

Corle, who rushed for 85 yards on 16 carries and caught 10 passes for 113 yards, scored on a pair of 1-yard dives, rushed 7 yards for a score, and had a 10-yard touchdown reception from Lee.

Towson (5-2) scored three touchdowns in the third quarter to erase a 27-14 halftime deficit and pulled away from Howard (2-4) by scoring 35 unanswered points during a span of 19 minutes, 16 seconds in the second half.

Howard running back Jermaine Hutchinson rushed for 166 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries, but that wasn't enough to compensate for the absence of Bison starting quarterback Bobby Townsend, who missed the game because of a right foot sprain.

Junior Roy Anderson, Townsend's replacement, completed 14 of 33 passes for one touchdown and 315 yards with four interceptions.

Hutchinson, a junior from Hawthorne, Fla., scored on touchdown runs of 14, 4 and 3 yards as the Bison rambled for 370 offensive yards in the first half, during which they took a 27-7 lead. His fourth touchdown came on a 10-yard run that pulled Howard to 42-33 with 13:31 left in the game.

Elijah Thurmon led Bison receivers with six receptions for 135 yards.
