MORAGA, Calif. (AP) _ Colgate quarterback Ryan Vena passed for four touchdowns Saturday as the Red Raiders defeated St. Mary's, Cal. 43-13. Colgate (7-1) won their sixth consecutive game while St. Mary's dropped to 1-7. Vena's four touchdown passes tied a Colgate single-game record. He completed 11 of 20 passes while Gael quarterback Gus Papanikolas threw for 210 yards, connecting on 18 passes in 27 attempts. Colgate scored on the game's opening play with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Ameer Riley. St. Mary's answered in the same quarter on a four-yard touchdown run by Jeff Brown. Colgate widened their lead to 22-7 by halftime after Vena connected on two short touchdown passes. After another touchdown pass from Vena in the third, the Gaels mounted a small comeback in the final quarter on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Papanikolas to Kawika Watts. But the two-point conversion failed and Vena added one more scoring toss in the fourth quarter to lead his team to victory.
