BOX SCORE
BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) -- Maurice Shaw ran for two fourth-quarter touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 50 seconds remaining, and Washington rallied to beat California 31-27 Saturday. Marques Tuiasosopo overcame three interceptions and two fumbles to complete 10 of 22 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns. He also kept the game-winning drive alive with a 39-yard completion to Dane Looker to the Cal 21. Shaw shook loose for an 11-yard gain and three plays later powered in from the 2-yard line for the decisive score. Washington (4-3, 3-1 Pac-10) won its 17th straight over Cal (3-4, 2-2). The Huskies, who haven't lost to the Golden Bears since 1976, withstood Joe Igber's Cal freshman record 182 yards rushing on 35 carries. Linebacker Sekou Sanyika intercepted Tuiasosopo twice and Deltha O'Neal also had a fourth-quarter interception, leading to Mark Jensen's tie-breaking 22-yard field goal with 6:50 remaining. But Cal couldn't hold the lead and Kyle Boller's desperation pass in the final moments was intercepted by Washington's Omare Lowe to secure the victory. The Bears moved ahead 24-10 on Boller's 11-yard touchdown pass to Ronnie Davenport with 10:45 remaining in the third quarter but the Huskies rallied to tie it with consecutive touchdowns. Tuiasosopo hit Todd Elstrom in stride near midfield and the Huskies' receiver went in untouched for an 83-yard scoring play. Washington then evened the score on Shaw's 9-yard run with 9:43 left. With Cal's defensive line applying pressure, Tuiasosopo hurried a throw and Sanyika was in position for his second interception, returning it three yards to the Washington 17. Cal netted just two yards over the next three plays and Jensen came on to kick a 33-yard field goal, putting Cal up 17-10 at halftime. Sanyika also ended Washington's opening possession with an interception, reading Elstrom's slant pattern and stepping in front of him to swipe Tuiasosopo's throw and return it 34 yards to the Huskies 1. Joshua White bulled his way into the end zone on the next play. Washington's defense bottled up Cal's attack in its first two possessions, holding the Bears to zero yards and converting two short drives after punts into a 19-yard scoring pass from Tuiasosopo to Jerramy Stevens and John Anderson's 33-yard field goal for a 10-7 lead. The Bears answered with a 45-yard drive that Igber finished with a 1-yard scoring run. | ALSO SEE College Football Scoreboard Washington Clubhouse California Clubhouse College football Top 25 overview
