BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) _ Ralph Salvideri ran for 255 yards and three touchdowns as Iona College beat Canisius College 34-12 Saturday in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Salvideri has gained 503 yards rushing and eight TDs in the last weeks. Iona took advantage of turnovers from a Canisius (1-7, 0-5) team that controlled much of the early part of the game. Canisius fumbled twice, was intercepted, had a punt blocked and had another returned for a touchdown. At one point in the second quarter Canisius had 138 yards of offense to Iona's 2 yards, but Iona still held a 7-6 lead. That Iona (5-3, 4-2) score came from a Canisius screen pass by Bryan Roland that was picked off by Iona linebacker Ken Cushnie, who then ran 76 yards for the score and an early 7-0 lead. But Canisius soon took control of the game. A 64-yard drive in six plays made the score 7-6. In the second half, Salvideri took over. He ran for 197 yards in the half and scored on runs of 1, 22 and 79 yards. Running mate Jeremy Lee had a 3-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. For Canisius, Bryan Roland completed 22 of 46 passes for 306 yards and a TD. Roland's favorite receiver Saturday, Mike Minnuto, caught nine passes for 155 yards. Iona had 262 yards total rushing to Canisius' 1 yard.
