HONOLULU (AP) _ Dan Robinson's third touchdown psss of the game, a 9-yarder to Craig Stutzmann in the second overtime, gave Hawaii a 31-24 victory over Fresno State on Saturday night.

The win gives the Rainbow Warriors (7-3, 5-2) a share of their first Western Athletic Conference title in seven years and a guaranteed berth in either the Las Vegas or Oahu bowls.

The teams traded field goals in the first overtime, Fresno State (7-4, 5-2) scoring on a 28-yarder by Jeff Hanna and Hawaii matching it with a 21-yarder by Eric Hannum.

The Bulldogs scored twice in the final nine minutes to force overtime after Hawaii grabbed a 21-7 lead with 14:13 to play on a 15-yard pass from Dan Robinson to Ashley Lelie.

The score came after Yaphet Warren returned Derrick Ward's third fumble of the game 23 yards to the Bulldog 17.

Fresno State responded its next series, driving 77 yards to make it 21-14 after quarterback Billy Volek snuck in from the 1 with 9:12 left.

After Hannum missed a 29-yard field goal for Hawaii, Volek led the Bulldogs to the tying score, hitting Charles Smith with a 28-yard scoring pass in the left corner of the end zone with 2:26 to play.

The drive was kept alive with a questionable third down roughing the quarterback call against Hawaii that moved the ball to the Rainbow Warrior 38.

Fresno State had a chance to win in regulation, after Terence Brown intercepted Robinson at the Hawaii 48, but Hanna missed a 40-yard field goal.

All three of Hawaii touchdowns in regulation followed fumbles by Ward.

Dee Miller recovered Ward's two first half fumbles, which led to touchdowns that gave the Rainbow Warriors a 13-7 halftime lead.

Fresno State grabbed a 7-0 lead, taking advantage of a shanked punt after Hawaii's first possession to start a drive from the Rainbow 47. After a third down pass to tight end Vince Bratstetter and two Hawaii offsides, tailback Paris Gaines scored from 3 yards.

After the first Ward fumble, Robinson hit Dwight Carter with a 5-yard pass with 2:38 to play in the quarter. After Ward's second fumble gave Hawaii the ball at the 44, Robinson moved Hawaii to the 1, then snuck over with 5:27 before halftime. Hannum missed the kick.
