BALTIMORE (AP) _ Howard quarterback Bobby Townsend threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Jevonte Philpot with 10 seconds left to give the Bison a wild come-from-behind 42-38 victory in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Saturday.

Townsend completed 37 of 71 passes for 522 yards and four touchdowns and three interceptions. The 71 passes set a school record as did his 555 yards of total offense.

Wide receiver Elijah Thurmon made 12 catches for 162 yards. He now has 76 receptions on the season, breaking the old record of 72 set by Gary Harrell in 1993.

Howard (5-5, 4-3) gained 629 yards total offense, the second time this season the Bison have topped 600 yards.

Howard fell behind, 13-0, in the first quarter and later trailed, 31-14, late in the third. The Bison then scored 28 points in the fourth quarter for their last-second victory.

Jermaine Hutchinson scored on a 3-yard run to slice the lead to 31-21 with 12:57 left. Townsend then threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Philpot and a 12-yard scoring pass to Thurmon for a 35-31 Bison lead with 2:33 left.

But Morgan State (2-7, 0-6) came right back and marched 67 yards on five plays, scoring on Ali Culpepper's 7-yard run with 1:33 left for a 38-35 lead. That was Culpepper's fourth touchdown of the day.

However, the Bison rallied one last time, moving 73 yards on 10 plays, the final one being Townsend's 6-yard touchdown to Philpot.
