BROOKLINE, Mass. (AP) _ Leonard Byrd's 44-yard punt return with 2:06 left gave Maine a 20-14 win over Northeastern on Saturday. Brian Scott scored a touchdown and completed 18 of 27 passes for 186 yards in leading Maine (4-6, 3-5 Atlantic 10). Adam Browne scored a touchdown and connected on 14 of 24 passes for 163 yards and Tim Gale rushed for 76 yards on 22 carries for Northeastern (1-9, 0-7), which lost its ninth straight. Maine benefited from 13 penalties against the Huskies for 124 yards. After a scoreless first period, Maine went ahead 7-0 on a 53-yard pass from Scott to Phil McGeoghan in the second quarter. Northeastern tied it before the half on a 5-yard pass from Brown to Dave Klemic. Maine took a 14-7 lead in the third period on Scott's 9-yard run, but Northeastern tied it again on Browne's quarterback sneak at 6:07 of the fourth period.
