STORRS, Conn. (AP) _ Senior tailback Dan Curran ran for two touchdowns and caught a pass for a third to lead New Hampshire to a 43-18 victory over Connecticut on Saturday.

Curran scored on runs of one yard and three yards and caught a seven-yard TD pass from quarterback Ryan Day early in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach. Day threw for two scores on the day and ran for a third.

After spotting Connecticut a 3-0 lead, New Hampshire (4-6, 2-5 Atlantic 10) scored three first-quarter touchdowns to grab a 21-3 advantage. The Wildcats took a 7-3 lead on a one-yard run by Curran and made it 14-3 when fullback Rowan Baptiste scored on an 18-yard screen pass from Day. Day later scored on a one-yard keeper to complete the first-quarter scoring.

UConn (4-6. 3-4) cut the margin to 21-10 with 11:03 left in the second quarter on a seven-yard shovel pass from quarterback Luke Richmond to fullback Barry Chandler. The Huskies closed the gap to 21-16 on an eight-yard TD pass from Richmond to flanker John Fitzsimmons but a two-point pass attempt failed.

UConn got those two points a minute later on a safety following an errant punt attempt by New Hampshire when the snap went out of the end zone.

The Huskies had a chance to tie the game early in the third quarter but Marc Hickok missed a 44-yard field goal attempt. New Hampshire's Peter Carbonara then connected on a 31-yard field goal to make it 24-18 and the Wildcats scored twice more in the third on runs of 10 yards by Imion Powell and three yards by Curran to make it 36-18.
