SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) _ Matt Cannon passed for 154 yards and rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns as Southern Utah battled back from an 18-point deficit to beat Southwest Texas State 32-28 on Saturday. After a 58-yard touchdown pass from Spergon Wynn to Steve Davis gave Southwest Texas State (2-8) a 28-10 lead midway through the third quarter, the Thunderbirds (7-3) strung together three touchdown drives of at least 66 yards to regain the lead. Brook Madsen capped two of those drives with scoring runs, including a 3-yarder that gave Southern Utah its first lead of the game with 2:54 remaining. Madsen finished with 75 yards on 13 carries. Cannon, meanwhile, completed 9 of 17 passes while running the ball 24 times. His touchdowns came on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and a 2-yard run in the fourth. The Thunderbirds' leading receiver was Rob Chapman, who caught two passes for 40 yards. The Bobcats built their lead with the help of two Wynn touchdown passes and an 85-yard fumble return by C.J. Carroll in the third quarter. Wynn passed for 203 yards in the game, while Bronson Sanders led the SWT rushing attack with 74 yards.
