BOONE, N.C. (AP) _ Florida A&M held off a late Appalachian State rally to defeat the Mountaineers 44-29 in the first round of the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs Saturday.

Trailing the entire game, Appalachian State (9-3) trimmed the Rattlers' lead to 34-29 on a pair of David Reaves touchdown passes, one to Luke Manuel and one to Karim Razzak, but the Mountaineers never got any closer.

JaJuan Seider sealed the game for Florida A&M (9-3) with a 15-yard touchdown run with 5:46 remaining to give the Rattlers a 41-29 lead. Jeremy Edwards grabbed the final score with a 25-yard field goal in the last 53 seconds.

The Rattlers jumped out to a 19-0 lead midway through the second quarter when Seider hit Cainon Lamb on a pair of touchdown passes and scored on a 7-yard run.

Seider scored his second touchdown on the opening drive in the second half on a 5-yard run to push the lead to 27-6. The Mountaineers cut the lead to 27-15 on a 41-yard Stuart Jones field goal and Daniel Jeremiah's pass to Daniel Wilcox.

Seider's third touchdown pass of the game with 30 seconds left in the third quarter gave the Rattlers a 34-15 lead entering the final period.

Seider finished the game 33 of 43 for 313 yards and three touchdowns, while running the ball 30 times for 81 yards and three touchdowns. The Rattlers rolled up 479 offensive yards, compared to 307 for the Mountaineers.

Reaves finished 15 of 34 for 134 yards and two touchdowns for Appalachian State.
