TROY, Ala. (AP) _ Demetr Bendross caught touchdown passes of 77 and 57 yards, leading Florida A&M past Troy State 17-10 in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs.

The Rattlers (10-3) held the Trojans to 190 total yards and advance to play Youngstown State in the semifinals.

Troy State (11-2), ranked No. 1 for a month during the regular season, lost two fumbles and an interception.

FAMU quarterback JaJuan Seider hit Bendross on a 77-yarder to tie the game at 7-7 in the first quarter. Seider was injured early in the second half, and sub Quinn Gray connected with Bendross on a 57-yarder to take a 17-7 lead with 5:49 left in the third quarter.

Gray finished 11-of-21 for 221 yards and was intercepted twice. Seider was 6-of-14 for 113 yards and rushed 13 times for 40 yards.

Troy State quarterback Brock Nutter completed his first seven passes but finished 10-of-19 for just 71 yards and was sacked four times. He also threw an interception.

The Rattlers came in averaging 45.1 points per game, but managed only the two long TD strikes and a 34-yard Jeremy Edwards field goal.

Florida A&M has ousted Troy State from the playoffs the past two years, winning 27-17 at home in the first round last season.
