Virginia Tech's Michael Vick is still the man, but it's getting closer.
Vick, who earned three first place votes, was merely mortal in the Hokies' easy win over East Carolina, accounting for only 119 yards and one TD. Of course, he didn't have to do much as the special teams dominated.
While Vick was having an off-game for him, Nebraska's Eric Crouch, Florida State's Chris Weinke and Purdue Drew Brees had big days and snagged some first place votes.
Crouch, who had two first place votes, scored three TDs as the Huskers edged Notre Dame; Weinke, who notched two first place votes, threw for a career best 443 yards and two TDs in the Seminoles win over Gerogia Tech and Brees, who earned one first place vote, threw for 415 yards and two TDs and ran for two more in Purdue's win over Kent.
The Heisman Watch is a poll featuring eight ESPN coaches, analysts and writers and will appear weekly during the season. Panelists are asked to vote for their top five and players are awarded five points for a first place vote, four for second and so on down the line.
