Running up some impressive numbers

ESPN.com

We'll be tracking the top six players on our weekly Heisman Poll each Saturday. Here is how those six players performed on Saturday. The ESPN.com Heisman Poll is voted on by Lee Corso, Todd Christensen, Bill Curry, Rod Gilmore, Mike Gottfried, Kirk Herbstreit, Mel Kiper, Jr., John Mackovic and Gene Wojciechowski.

MICHAEL VICK -- VIRGINIA TECH
Michael Vick
Vick
Breaking it down: Proved he could stretch a defense with more than his feet, connected on the long ball twice in this rout. Solid passing night on national television only confirmed his status as the Heis-man to beat at this point.
Thursday's Performance: Beat West Virginia, 48-20
Passing: 10 of 18, 233 yards; 2 TDs; 0 INTs
Rushing: 11 carries, 57 yards
Season Statistics
Passing: 55 of 107, 868 yards; 7 TDs, 4 INTs
Rushing: 70 carries, 541 yards; 7 TDs

CHRIS WEINKE -- FLORIDA STATE
Chris Weinke
Weinke
Breaking it down: We'll still argue last week's performance against Miami in defeat will do more than this latest 500-plus-5 effort against an overmatched group of Dukies. But the numbers he's putting up are starting to get gaudy. On pace for over 5,000 yards and 40 TDs, while hitting on 63 percent of his passes.
Saturday's Performance: Beat Duke, 63-14
Passing: 37 of 47, 536 yards; 5 TDs, 1 INT
Season Statistics
Passing: 164 of 259, 2,510 yards; 20 TDs, 6 INT

ERIC CROUCH -- NEBRASKA
Eric Crouch
Crouch
Breaking it down: Like Weinke, he was out of game by the end of the third quarter. But, unlike Weinke, didn't put up outrageous numbers in a rout. Do voters care? Should voters care? Crouch doesn't care, as long as Huskers remain unbeaten and No. 1.
Saturday's Performance: Beat Texas Tech, 56-3
Passing: 6 of 12, 86 yards; 1 TD, 1 INT
Rushing: 12 carries, 52 yards; 2 TDs
Season Statistics
Passing: 45 of 90, 752 yards; 9 TD, 5 INTs
Rushing: 91 carries, 530 yards; 10 TDs

WOODROW DANTZLER -- CLEMSON
Woodrow Dantzler
Dantzler
Breaking it down: Numbers against the worst defense in the nation were a bit deceiving. A little low at first look, but he made the big plays that got the Tigers in the end zone. Efficiency, however, won't sway votes his way at this point.
Saturday's Performance: Beat Maryland, 35-14
Passing: 10 of 19, 186 yards; 0 TDs, 1 INT
Rushing: 17 carries, 87 yards; 2 TDs
Season Statistics
Passing: 91 of 147, 1,271 yards; 9 TDs, 4 INT
Rushing: 122 carries, 819 yards; 12 TDs

DREW BREES -- PURDUE
Drew Brees
Brees
Breaking it down: After a week away, Brees returns after leading the Boilermakers to an upset of Michigan a week ago. Won't have a problem remaining on the list this week after starring in an offensive showcase of Big 10 schools that don't play like Big 10 schools.
Saturday's Performance: Beat Northwestern, 41-28
Passing: 22 of 40, 239 yards; 5 TDs, 1 INT
Rushing: 15 carries, 56 yards
Season Statistics
Passing: 180 of 293, 2,169 yards; 17 TDs, 4 INTs
Rushing: 62 carries, 349 yards; 3 TDs

LADAINIAN TOMLINSON -- TCU
LaDainian Tomlinson
Tomlinson
Breaking it down: Deserved a bye week after the numbers he put up two weeks ago. Just to refresh you memory: 49 carries, 294 yards and 4 TDs vs. Hawaii. Only the best performance by a running back this year. Can't wait for next week's encore against Tulsa.
Saturday's Performance: Did not play
Season Statistics
Rushing: 168 carries, 974 yards; 12 TDs
