BOX SCORE
RUSTON, La. (AP) -- Fourth-ranked Louisiana Tech found a quick
way to unleash its high-scoring offense -- turn up the pressure on
defense.
Betty Lennox scored 25 points and Tamicha Jackson 23 as the Lady
Techsters shut down Arkansas State 95-59 Tuesday night.
Louisiana Tech (20-2, 11-0 Sun Belt) forced 32 turnovers,
including 12 steals, and blocked six shots.
Tech has won 10 straight overall, 22 in a row at home and 36
straight in the Sun Belt.
Arkansas State led 24-20 with 9:15 left in the first half before
Tech, revived by its defense, went on runs of 12-0 and 16-3 to
seize a 21-point halftime lead. Consecutive steals and layups by
Jackson fueled the 12-0 surge.
"Our defense at times was very active and did a great job,"
said Tech coach Leon Barmore. "We just did not execute our
half-court offense well. I didn't see a single post player for us
have a good game. We've got to improve."
Keesha Evans and Tanisha Johnson had 16 points apiece to lead
Arkansas State (14-7, 5-5).
Substitute Catrina Frierson added 14 points and Takeisha Lewis
had 12 points for Tech, which parlayed 52.5 percent shooting
(21-of-40) into a 52-31 halftime lead.
"I felt good about the first 16 minutes of play. We were in
sync until their defense really took us out of our game," said
Arkansas State coach Brian Boyer. `Eventually, I think our players
got discouraged and really got down on themselves."
