NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Tara Mitchem scored 22 points and Jackie Stiles added 16, leading No. 13 Southwest Missouri State to a 67-61 victory over Tulane. Carly Deer finished with 11 points and five assists for the Bears (4-2), who broke out to a 37-22 halftime lead and hung on in the second half. Janell Burse and Sarah Goree led Tulane (3-4) with 15 points apiece and Gwen Slaughter scored 12. The Bears shot 46 percent (16-of-35) in the first half as they raced to what seemed like a commanding lead. But the Green Wave managed to make a charge in the second half. They got within two points late in the game but could not pull off the upset, despite holding the Bears to 40 percent shooting (10-of-25) in the final 20 minutes.
