NORTHRIDGE, California (Ticker) -- Center Schuye LaRue scored 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead 24th-ranked Virginia to a 75-69 victory over Cal State-Northridge.

Virginia (9-4) built a 16-point halftime lead after holding CS-Northridge to 37 percent shooting (11-of-29) over the first 20 minutes. Despite a much better effort in the second half, the Matadors gained little ground.

LaShaunda Fowler scored 27 points on 11-of-18 shooting and had six steals for Northridge. ReShawnda Richardson added 13 points and Kristi Rose had 11 and seven rebounds but shot only 5-of-15 from the floor.

Telisha Quarles netted 13 points for Virginia, which got 11 apiece from Anna Crosswhite and Chalios Lias.

Fowler had six of Cal State's 13 steals, while Monica Hernandez contributed two and nine assists. The Cavaliers rebounded from Thursday's 78-66 loss to Santa Barbara and have won five of their last six games. They improved to 4-3 on the road.

CS-Northridge (4-7) has lost two in a row and fell to 2-2 at home.
