NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- More than 68,000 fans waited for nearly
an hour Monday night before being allowed into Adelphia Coliseum
for the Tennessee Titans' game with the Jacksonville Jaguars
because of a suspicious duffel bag.

Security noticed the blue bag sitting against the concrete at
Gate 6 minutes after a sweep of the stadium, and the bomb squad was
called to the scene. Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron said the
unit brought a portable X-ray unit, found the bag was filled with
clothing and cut it open.
But police and team officials chose to recheck the entire
stadium before opening the gates.
"This is really a normal process for anything suspicious that
we find in this situation," Titans president Jeff Diamond said.
"Following normal procedure, we held back the opening of the
stadium for the safety of the fans."
The delay meant fans waited for 55 minutes before the gates
finally opened. One man yelled out, "Free at last," as he walked
into the stadium.
"They told us it was for our own safety, and we think it's
better to be safe than sorry," said Gary Emison of Bells, Tenn.
