Who should the Texans take?

ESPN.com

The Houston Texans will begin stocking their roster Monday in the expansion draft. With players like Tony Boselli, Jamie Sharper and Jeff Blake available, there is plenty of talent for the Texans to chose from. With that in mind, we asked our panel of experts who the Texans should take.

Who in the expansion draft will help the Texans the most?

Merril Hoge
Jermaine Lewis. Special teams is an area that is often overlooked. But there is so much emphasis on it to win every week. The Texans need a player who can create field position and who can be a threat as a punt returner. He can help the defense and the offense and can generate points from special teams. The Texans can compete at a higher level with a threat on special teams like Lewis. He can give them a spark, put points on the board and help them win games right away.

Ron Jaworski
Tony Boselli. Along with Orlando Pace, he is the best tackle in the game. If he's healthy, he is an absolutely dominant player. He passed the physical for them, so I imagine he is healthy and ready to go.

Chris Mortensen
Tony Boselli. He will give them a Pro Bowl-caliber left tackle to protect a young QB like David Carr; but perhaps even more critically, he will provide leadership for a relatively young team via his charactwer traits that include integrity, accountability and tenacity. He will also be an anchor in the community for the Texans.

Sean Salisbury
Tony Boselli. When he is healthy, he is the most dominating tackle in football. He has a nasty attitude. He is a good guy who never gets into trouble. He will get healthy again because he is a physical specimen. Teams need to build from the outside in, especially on offense. Boselli is a tackle they can trust and someone who will be around awhile because he is still relatively young. The quarterback can feel somewhat safe with him breaking the blind side. Boselli will be in the Pro Bowl again as soon as possible and will make a huge, immediate impact on the Texans.

Mark Schlereth
Tony Boselli. Being an offensive lineman forever, of course that's the area I think the Texans should look to first. Which means I think they should pick Tony Boselli first in the expansion draft. Boselli is the best left tackle in the game. Even though he's been injured a few times, Boselli is still a good pick for Houston. Boselli's injuries cost him a lot of time, but they never cost him an essential part of his game -- and they saved him a lot of week-in-and-week-out pounding. His past injuries won't hamper his future performance, and his body is fresher than most 30 year-olds' bodies.
