KANATA, Ontario (AP) -- Both Ron Tugnutt and fans of the Ottawa Senators were happy that the goalie was back at the Corel Centre. Tugnutt, who played for Ottawa from 1996 until last season, made 25 saves Saturday night for Columbus as the Blue Jackets and Senators skated to a 2-2 draw. "Somebody in the stands screamed right before the anthem that they missed me," Tugnutt said. "It caught me off guard a bit." Shawn McEachern scored with 9:12 remaining in regulation as the Senators managed the tie against Tugnutt and the expansion Blue Jackets. Rob Zamuner also scored for the Senators. Geoff Sanderson and Kevyn Adams scored on consecutive shots 24 seconds apart in the second period for the Blue Jackets. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to win, it was a pretty emotional day for me," said Tugnutt, 33, who was welcomed warmly by the Senators fans. He holds Ottawa's modern franchise record with 72 wins. "We played a great game, we kind of shut them down." The Senators (8-1-4-0) are off to the best start in their modern history with only one loss in 13 games. The Eastern Conference leaders ran their home unbeaten streak to seven games (4-0-3). Columbus (3-9-1-1) started in a four-way tie for the league's fewest points with seven and only one road win. But the Blue Jackets gave the Senators all they could handle despite being outshot 27-18. "We need to learn not to take anything for granted," Ottawa's Vinnie Prospal said. "It seems like we always have trouble with expansion teams, especially at home. We let them play their game and didn't get anything going." The teams skated through a scoreless first period, with Tugnutt making an outstanding save on rookie Martin Havlat, who is tied for second in rookie scoring with 10 points. "They played well and deserved two points," Zamuner said. Havlat, 19, set up Zamuner in the slot to open the scoring 2:09 into the second period. It was Zamuner's third goal in four games. Havlat extended his point-scoring streak to five games. Steve Heinze tipped a Jamie Heward shot off the post and Sanderson was there to tap it in behind Ottawa goalie Jani Hurme on a power play at 13:55. Adams added his third goal of the season at 14:19. A shot by McEachern appeared to deflect in off Heward to give Ottawa the equalizer midway through the third period. "We had a little lapse in the second period but overall, we played well," Senators coach Jacques Martin said. Game notesThe Senators played without six regulars: top goal-scorer LW Magnus Arvedson (left glute), C Mike Fisher (left shoulder), D Chris Phillips (back spasms), RW Daniel Alfredsson (right hip flexor) G Patrick Lalime (left knee) and D Ricard Persson (right ankle). C John Emmons and RW David Oliver were recalled from Grand Rapids (IHL). ...
