missing six games with a rib injury.

Sakic was sidelined with a rib cartilage injury that initially
was diagnosed as a stiff back. He had not played since a 4-1
victory over the New York Rangers on Nov. 5.
The Avalanche captain, Sakic still shares the team scoring lead
with five goals and 14 assists in 15 games. Colorado was 2-3-1
without him but is coming off Monday's 3-2 overtime win at
Dallas.
Sakic, 30, is two points shy of becoming the 56th player in NHL
history with 1,000 and only the 14th to reach that plateau with
one team.
Colorado is without All-Star center Peter Forsberg, who is still around
two weeks away from returning from offseason shoulder surgery.
He participated in the team's skills competition on Sunday.
