An exhausted Annika Sorenstam completed a remarkable three-week run on the LPGA Tour, winning for the third consecutive week at the tournament she wanted most. Sorenstam won the Nabisco Championship , shooting a final-round 69 for a three-shot victory over four others. It is the third major title of her career.

It took Mike McCullough 151 starts for his first victory on the Senior Tour. No. 2 came much quicker. McCullough beat Andy North on the first hole of sudden death to win at the Emerald Coast Classic, giving him two victories in a month. North, the two-time U.S. Open champion, was seeking his first Senior victory.

Darren Fichardt won for the first time on the European Tour, coasting to a five-shot victory at the Sao Paulo Brazil Open. Fichardt finished at 18-under 195 in the tournament, which was reduced to 54 holes after three days of rain and lightning.
