BOSTON (AP) -- The Calgary Flames are nothing special in regulation -- barely cracking the top eight in the Western Conference that would go to the playoffs if the season ended today.

If they can make it to overtime, though, the Flames are nearly unbeatable, with a record of 10-1-5.

"It's been great. I can't believe we keep doing it," forward Marc Savard said Monday night after scoring his second goal of the game with 3:04 left in overtime to give Calgary a 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins.

"We have a lot of confidence in overtime," he said. "Everybody seems to get out there and give it their all. That's a big thing: The game goes to OT and you feel like you can win."

Every time they do, the Flames extend their NHL record for overtime victories in a season.

Savard, who also had an assist, picked up a loose puck behind the Boston net and swung around, putting it above Byron Dafoe for Calgary's fifth win in six games.

"I can't really explain it," said Flames goalie Fred Brathwaite, who stopped 27 shots. "It comes to overtime and we play an extremely different type of game."

Sergei Samsonov scored with 10:19 to play in regulation to tie it 3-3, but the Bruins dropped to 0-5-4 in their last nine games at the FleetCenter -- their longest home winless streak since 1962.

"Home games have to be an advantage," said Dafoe, who stopped 33 shots. "All of a sudden, they're a disadvantage for us."

The Bruins had just one goal in 42 power-play opportunities coming in. But they scored on their first two of the night, with goals from Joe Murphy and Darren Van Impe.

"At least we're getting the right idea there," coach Pat Burns said. "If (only) we could get it going consistently."

Boston trailed 3-2 when Don Sweeney took a shot from the point that was stopped by Brathwaite. Samsonov picked up the rebound, brought the puck around to his backhand, and slipped it into the goal.

Dave Andreychuk also earned an assist on the play, giving him 1,170 points in his career and tying him with Bobby Hull for 30th on the NHL career scoring list.

Andrei Nazarov, who scored at 17:15 of the second period to give the Flames a 3-2 lead, also assisted on Calgary's first goal when Savard scored 2:11 into the game. Savard picked up a loose puck at the bottom of the faceoff circle, spun around and shot it between Dafoe's pads.

The Bruins tied it when Murphy worked a give-and-go with Steve Heinze. Brathwaite stopped the first shot, but Murphy got his own rebound and got it around the goalie to score.

Valeri Bure gave the Flames a 2-1 lead, taking advantage of a Bruins turnover in their own end to score his 25th goal of the season. Van Impe tied it at 11:34 of the first when he took a slap shot and Brathwaite appeared to duck to get out of its way.
