BOX SCORE DETROIT (AP) _ Darren McCarty had three goals and an assist as the Detroit Red Wings beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-2 in an exhibition game Thursday night. McCarty scored in the first period and added two more goals and an assist in a three-goal second that gave Detroit a 5-2 lead. Steve Brule, Jiri Fischer and Tomas Holmstrom also scored goals for the Red Wings (4-2-1), and Sergei Fedorov had two assists. D.J. Smith and Igor Korolev scored for the Maple Leafs (3-5-0), who managed just 21 shots against goalie Chris Osgood. Toronto goalie Curtis Joseph gave up four goals on 16 shots through the first 29:44. Jamie Hodson added 18 saves.
