The Sooners found their Orange Bowl success particularly sweet.
Finally, the Sooners command some respect. Heading into its 13-2 victory over Florida State in the Orange Bowl, Oklahoma had to endure a debate about which team should be No. 1 when (seldom "if") the Seminoles won. It was as if Oklahoma was the nation's only unbeaten team by a fluke. The Sooners ended the debate with a ball-control offense and a hard-nosed defense that shut down mighty FSU.
