First of all, it was a conference game, and second, it was a game we needed to win. It also was homecoming. You are not supposed to lose your homecoming game. Not to take anything away from UNLV, but we beat ourselves this game. But, the game is over now and we have to move on. It is time to see what our team is made of. We need to bounce back and play a good game against Louisiana-Monroe. It will be important for us to get a win heading into the tough backstretch of our schedule. This is our last non-conference game and we need to iron out all our mistakes and problems this week. As we showed last weekend, you can't win games when you make as many mistakes as we did. We now need to win the rest of our games if we want to meet our goal of winning the conference.
Trifon Demos After a few good drives, the offense could not finish and had to settle for field goals. We went into halftime down 21-9. The offense knew we would have to finish these drives we were putting together and score touchdowns to win this game. We did that in the third quarter as we drove the field and cut the lead to 21-16. As the momentum changed, and the defense stepped it up, the offense got opportunities to take the lead, but crucial mistakes and breakdowns did not allow us to do this. After a few big UNLV plays it was a 35-16 ball game, but before you knew it, our defense brought us back to 35-32. Once again the offense had chances to win but could not finish the ballgame. This is definitely a loss that will burn inside of us, and one that we can learn from. Now we must get ready to play Louisiana-Monroe this Saturday. |
